Clare Dill As the Navigator
The story behind the girl and the ship and all:
The settings and technology of Wine Dark Deep are essentially those that I spent 5 years working with NASA to simulate for the museum exhibit. We had a lot of fun. It was a weird combo of guerrilla/film student tactics using real space helmets and motorcycle armor for the spacesuits in some scenes. Super expensive Apollo replica suits in another, and all done in a basement. The actress in the photo is the awesome Clare Dill who played the Navigator in the more than one and a half hours of live-action footage we shot to accompany the simulations. These characters would pop-up in little space-Zoom windows and help you out, give you advice, on their expertise within the ship. She automatically became the model for the character of the ship's pilot. And, of course, the ship that you e-fly in the museum is the exact same type as the hero ship in Wine Dark Deep. Clare is an awesome person and is also Ms. Booksy in the Youtube series of the same name.
