Hollow Heathens & this YA version I keep talking about!

YOUR YA QUESTIONS ANSWERED HERE!

If you follow me on Instagram, you will already know that I recently posted about the latest news for the YA version of Hollow Heathens. Here's more in-depth to all your questions regarding HHYA!

If you read Hollow Heathens, you'd see the dedication I wrote to my daughter. We both share the same love for horror, gothic romance, ghosts, supernatural, magic, etc. and she's been dying for me to write a book like this that she could read (hence, the idea for a YA book). Plus, I can't dedicate a book to a ten-year-old girl who inspired me with the idea in the first place, then tell her she can't read it because of graphic sex scenes.

I've never written in YA before. It was all new to me. I did tons and tons of research, what to do what not to do. Basically, just like everything else, there are no rules when it comes to art. I appreciate & respect that. But for my version of HH, I did take out all the graphic sex scenes. There will be very limited cursing and the intimate scenes...aside from kissing...is faded to black. Some scenes I had to rewrite entirely, but it still flows the same way and doesn't throw any inconsistencies into the plot. All in all, everything I didn't want my daughter reading, I took out. This is how it'll be with the Tales of Weeping Hollow series in YA moving forward.

Yes, there will be a YA version to every book in this standalone series!

Originally, it was supposed to release on Halloween. But I had a last-minute change of heart for the cover. I think many can agree this has happened to them, where they browse the web and come across something that just speaks to them. Look, I didn't plan on falling in love with a new vision or a certain graphic designer for the cover. It just happened!

And it will be AMAZING and worth the wait!

Thank you guys for being excited for the YA version. To be able to read the same book as your daughter or son, and have it altered to your preferences, is kind of amazing. Sharing, discussing, and bringing up relatable topics you find in books and falling in love with something together is priceless.

xx, nicole
