Imagine my excitement to get a email from Goodreads that Rothfuss has an update! Now, imagine my savings at yet again not placing a preorder for Doors of Stone.

It sucks. But I'll always wait patiently for the third book.

If i were as hounded as he is about book 3, I would never write it. And i haven’t seen nearly as many messages as he has.

What will be first, Winds of Winter or Doors of Stone?

I've often asked myself this very question! It's interesting that Rothfuss made fun of Martin for not finishing books 6 & 7 of the Game of Thrones series while he himself can't seem to finish book 3... My money is on Martin at this point.

it is really Mr. Patrick the author of Book 1 & 2? Seven (7) years have passed and we still don't know when book 3 comes out, this sucks.

Jorge, good things come to those that wait. I have reread the first two several times and find each time as exciting as the first. Some of the scenes are so eloquently written that they appear to allow you to see into an alternate dimension allowing you to be a spectator. Thus, making it possible for you to be present with Kvothe while he is playing his lute or dancing the Ketan. I am willing to wait for the privilege of reading something as masterfully crafted.

Agreed. Super excited for nothing. As to the folks who say "hey, don't nag Patrick" I would say -- "then why did he post, alerting me and reminding me that I STILL can't read Book 3?"

Patrick -- we love you, but don't cry wolf on Goodreads. Please, conserve all of the keystrokes you have and let them explode into your book. Bless us with your powers of exposition. I know we're not worthy, but please have mercy. One more book....before I die (I'm not that old, but I want to give you a little runway). Please, please, please. In the name of mercy, of all that is good in this world -- and in the name of a few choice bad things. Please, for these causes and so many others, please finish that book. We can't take it much longer. The whole world set aside an entire year and stayed at home so you could write your book, and yet you still taunt us to this very day.

Sigh....no. No book 3 for you today, youngling.

Here's the problem that I see: at this point, all of his fans have built up book 3 so much in our heads over the last 7 years that there is no way the actual book will be able to live up to our expectations. It seems like no matter what, there will be disappointment.

Goodreads should stop posting Patrick Rothfuss comments on anything other than Book 3 progress. I really could care less what he thinks about Kielbasa, D&D or other off-topic ideas. I read the goodreads posts to learn about books that will stimulate and entertain me ... not his meandering opinions. Please, just unplug him unless or until he is productive as a Book 3 finisher!

Patrick, you are lovely and incredibly talented. I cannot tell you how slowly I am trudging through A Wise Man's Fears because I don't want to finish it before Doors of Stone comes out. Myself, and probably millions of other people are dying for book three! Whatever it takes I hope you are able to get there because there is such thing as toooooooo much suspense. <3 I am sure you will do great just help us out before we all die of anticipation.

I wrote a book over the past 2 years myself, and I must say one of the least productive parts of that timespan was during the lockdown.

I agree that Patrick could communicate better, but the bottomline is simple: he doesn't owe anyone jack shit.

All we can do is troll the internet until for some reason light of brilliance strikes Pat once more.
