Lexicon Covers

My next book has gained not one but TWO covers: one for the US & Canada
and one for the rest of the English-speaking world. They’re super different.
This means either that one publisher is making a big mistake or that each
understands the tastes of its own market best and those tastes are quite
different. Or else that art is subjective. It’s one of those.

UK & other English

USA & Canada

I am happy with these covers. I especially like the boldness of the American
version. Although maybe I’m biased because my name is freaking huge. It’s
hard to dislike that.

I would like to name and thank the cover designers, but I don’t know who they
are. I’m going to find out and update this post. I assume it’s someone.

Lexicon is due for publication in June 2013.

Rob The UK cover reminds me of the Jennifer Government cover I have. The one showing the eye and bar code tattoo. If that's what you are best known for in the UK, it might be a deliberate move to link the two books. Personally I like the US/Canada cover better and since that's the market I am buying in, they're doing something right.

Dann LaGratta I like the UK one better myself.
Why are there different covers anyway?

I also thought of the Jennifer Government image immediately, which is what initially drew me to reading Max's books!

Rob Me too, Tommy. Jennifer Government was on a shelf at a Barnes and Nobel with the cover facing out. It caught my attention walking past it so I picked it up. I hadn't heard of it or Max yet. I read the first chapter in the cafe then bought it and every one of Max's books since.

Addie R. I love the US version and I love the whole concept of this!
But is this YA or Adult?

Melissa If it helps I'm Australian & I like the Europe one best. Definitely looks like the Jennifer Govt one, but I always liked that cover anyway.

Cristian Tane I really do not like taglines on book covers, which automatically makes me happy I'm living in Canada.

Kevin Just finished the advance reader's copy. I enjoyed it very much. It's already in the hands of another reader. Thanks, Max!
