State of Sara – 12/2

Instead of participating in Six Sentence Sunday as it winds down to a close at the end of January, I thought I’d do an update since I haven’t done one of those in a while. There are some very exciting things going on in the background that I hope to talk about soon (as in the next few days soon). I’ll be posting the announcement on my Facebook author page (http://www.facebook.com/authorsarabrookes) when the time comes. This is news that some of you have been waiting on for a long time and totally new territory for me. I’m really looking forward to this opportunity!

I’m just about to turn in the second round of edits for Her Master’s Collar. More than likely, this will be the last time I see the book until it releases sometime in May 2013 as part of Ellora’s Cave’s On The Hunt submission call, but I should have the official blurb soon since my editor usually asks for one around this point in the process. Words can’t express how much I love this futuristic D/s novella. The banter back and forth between Korene and Roland was so much fun to write. She is certainly not a pushover in any capacity  And watching them repair their very broken relationship was a treat as well. As the release approaches, I’l share a story about an event that actually happened in my life that inspired something very key in the book.

I started November with the full intent of participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). And I did great for the first half of the month. But then my news that I mentioned above sidelined me because there were things involved with that I needed to focus on in a very short amount of time. I did, however, bang out a significant word count before that occurred, adding over 20K words to Adam’s book, which means the first draft is nearly done for this “Edge” book. With two natural born performers for the main characters, you can bet this book is going to be quite a show. How about I leave you with a sample?

He tasted of beer and chocolate.

“Diane’s cookies.” She licked her lips as he pulled away, tasting the decadent flavors of the sweet treat and Adam mingling together in her mouth. “You stuck around the club for a while.”

“I did.” He cupped her chin, keeping his gaze upon hers. “Had nowhere else to be at the time. Plus, I remembered at the last minute I needed something for later.”

Excitement began to unfurl as her insides began to melt a little. “For later? What is that you have in store for me?”

“Wouldn’t be much of a surprise if I told you, nóisean.”

“Mmmm, chocolate and Gaelic. What more could a girl ask for?”

“Sex.” His lips swept over hers, possessing her mouth with a rough fervency that caused her head to spin. “Always, always ask for more sex.”

If you have any questions for me, feel free to ask away!
