Songs on the Radio

Jazmine, my oldest granddaughter, who is 17, and I, have been Christmas shopping together.  While driving from one shopping complex to another we've been singing along to the Christmas songs playing on the radio.  I treasure those lovely carols of old:  Oh Come All Ye Faithful, Joy to the World, Silent Night.  This led to a discussion of which carol was our favorite.  I chose a more modern one titled Mary Did You Know.  I can hardly listen to the words without tearing up.  Jazmine gave the question deep thought and then, having made her decision, announced:  Santa Baby.

Bridget Sphung I love Clay Aiken's version of Mary Did You Know. Beautiful song! Are you listening to Warm 106.9 by any chance?

Lorelei I love Mary Did You Know, also. Cant's imagine what was going through her mind! I love White Christmas, too. I sing it a lot at this time of year! Love the whistling which I have to leave out. Not a skill I have (even by myself).

Ada My favorite is Grown Up Christmas List (Kelly Clarkson or Michael Buble versions)

Jean All of the suggestions are great but my all time favorite continues to be Silent Night.

Stephanie Breath of Heaven...

Suzanne The lovely, "O Holy Night" continues to move me, especially when sung by a strong voice! :-)

Averill I'm with Suzanne, in my books nothing can top "O Holy Night". I get goose bumps when I hear it.

I love the Michael Buble version!

Bridget Sphung I also love Nick Jonas' version of Joy to the World and Marc Anthony's Christmas Auld Lang Syne.

Ada Ohh and if you like Christmas carols with a humourous twist, I recommend an acappela group, Straight No Chaser. Google their "12 Days of Christmas", it's so much fun :)

Suzanne Straight No Chaser is the Best! Their sense of humor is delightful, yet their musicality is superb on the traditional songs! :-)

Loraine I agree Debbie - I love Mary Did You Know but my favorite version is that done by the composer Mark Lowery. I also like Happy Birthday Jesus and The Christmas Shoes. (I get really teary eyed on that one!) From the older songs, O Holy Night is my favorite.

Lisa LOVE Mark Lowry. His duet with Buddy Greene- his co-author on the song- is really good :)
