Something Unthinkable

It’s not every day you read out something like this.

You think of the kitchen where you were first told stories by your parents. You think of a book maybe having a life of its own and doing more than you ever dreamed. You might even contemplate a movie being based on it…but you never imagine that John Williams will compose the score…

Alison Mr Zusak you deserve everything that is coming your way. Your masterpiece The Book Thief is a book that will be read for generations to come. I was never moved so much by a book. It is in my opinion the best work of fiction since Lonesome Dove.

message 5: by Jill (new)

Jill I didn't even know a movie was coming out, and with a score by John Williams? That is definitely having your cake and eating it too. Congratulations!!!

Julie The Book Thief is a work of art, it is poetic! I love death, he was really very compassionate, and I was moved as well by the book. But, since I never read Lonesome Dove, for me this book equaled my other favorite, To Kill a Mockingbird. Congratulations Markus. I look forward to the movie and hope it does your work justice.

Snow Lu OMG cannot wait to see my favourite book being translated into a movie. Cannot wait to see the first and last kiss Liesel grants Rudy among the ruins and dusts on Himmel Street...

Alison Julie,

I have three favorite books. To Kill a Mockingbird, Lonesome Dove and The Book Thief. Although no book had ever moved me like The Book Thief. Do yourself a favor and read Lonesome Dove. Enjoy!

Ivonne Rovira How wonderful to see The Book Thief on the silver screen! And the musical will be so wonderful, too.

message 10: by KimBear (new)

KimBear Congrats! You deserve the best! I'm almost afraid to see the movie as I can't imagine it being as good as the book! Yikes!

I will put Lonesome Dove on my list of books to read! And if possible, follow your list since it seems we have similar tastes!

message 13: by Zohreh (new)

Zohreh Tgp "The Book Thief" is a masterpiece without doubt. It is one of the most influential books novels written about mankind. Congratulations for the film too, Mr Zusak.

message 14: by Joan (new)

Joan The Book Thief is a truly spendid book. I'm looking forward to the movie; and, alas, the movie will give me the pleasure and excuse to re-read the book. John Williams doing the score, bravo Markus.

message 15: by Dana (new)

Dana Salman This movie had better be every bit as astounding as the book or I will be severely disappointed.

message 16: by Edward (new)

Edward Batres I am so excited that this book is actually going to be adapted into a film!!!! John Williams will do amazing.

message 17: by Sandi (new)

Sandi There are few books that get turned into great movies, To Kill A Mockingbird was one. The talent being brought into this gives me hope for another great transition. Your readers surely wish you and the movie our best.

message 18: by Emma Louise (new)

Emma Louise I am SO excited about this movie that I'm making my parents listen to the audiobook! Hoping to see it at the Oscars because it's been awhile since a YA book was taken seriously. I'm so excited!

message 19: by Jibsam (new)

Jibsam Hinacay This book is so awesome I can't take my eyes off of it. Even though I'm finished reading, my mind is still wired to it. Reading it was very worth it. You deserve every award, Markus. Hope you'll right more books.
