Even more movie stuff...including the trailer!

If you weren't avidly watching social media this week, it's possible you might've missed the Vampire Academy teaser trailer. That's right. After years of fanmade trailers on YouTube, I'm happy to finally give you this:

Amazing, huh? That is A LOT packed into only a little over a minute, and we still haven't really seen any full scenes or dialogue. But don't worry--I'm sure those will come! They just have to build us up. If you questions about the trailer, here are some links that might help you out! Over the last couple of days, I've been asked all sorts of things, from what certain scenes in the trailer are to how true it is to the book to--of course--when will we see more?! So watch it a few more times, then check out this great links.

Trailer Interview with Kozlovsky Brazil - In which I talk about all the things this amazing trailer had to do, costumes, my reactions to favorite scenes, and more!

Trailer Interview with Dhampir Life
- In which I talk about some of the darker characters, the desk scene (c'mon guys, freeze it and it should be clear who is--or, rather, ISN'T--in there), and actor chemistry.

Transcript of Today's Twitter Q&A - I took over the Official VA Movie handle and answered lots of fan movie questions about character hair, soundtrack, premiere, and more!

Renate I dont like the guy who plays dimitri at all..the scene with her in her underwear..he just looks fat instead of all muscle..bleghh
I am excited for the movie though..but it looks like I will be very disappointed with dimitri..:(

message 7: by M.... (new)

M.... I love the VA series and I fell this movie will not be as good as I want it to be.

message 8: by M.... (new)

M.... Also disappointed with dimitri.

message 9: by Mechelle (new)

Mechelle okay i just watched the trailer. and OMG it is beyond epic. it is so epic that i can't even spell correctly im in awe

message 10: by Megan (new)

Megan I agree with you Maral, I felt that the casting could have been much better. I don't think that anything can compare to the books though, because they are so incredible.

Jana Megan wrote: "I agree with you Maral, I felt that the casting could have been much better. I don't think that anything can compare to the books though, because they are so incredible."

Your right that no one or no thing can compare to the books but that is because the books are so incredibly details and amazingly written, not because they chose the wrong cast.

message 12: by Jess (new)

Jess Cook Casting DEF could have been better, however no matter what, someone would wish for someone different. I am excited to see it anyway. I was kinda dissapointed that Lissa didn't seem so frail like she did in the books. Her voice is really manly.

message 13: by Xyra (last edited Aug 19, 2013 08:00AM) (new)

Xyra I loved the trailer and am excited for the movie. I know it will not be nearly as good as the books, but still have high hopes for it. However, I noticed that the description of Rose in the USA Today article is less than flattering. In my opinion, it reads as if she is a slut who goes after every guy on campus or that walks by. That is so very much NOT Rose.

message 14: by Mechelle (last edited Aug 19, 2013 08:25AM) (new)

Mechelle Maral, Megan, Jana, and Jessica quit with cast bashing. so what the actors aren't who you personally wanted but you don't get a say in who is cast for what role or movie. the selection is all up to the director, the author and other people involved in the cast selection process. so quit complaining. Xyra I agree with you the USA Today was being overly critical of Rose. we all know that Rose love Dimitri, and who in life hasn't been label as a slut or similar. Hopefully USA Today will revise their opinion about Rose as the series continues.

I am sure Ms Mead is interested in her readers opinions both good and bad about the movie. I would like to be able to comment on blog posts with an opinion that is in no way "bashing" without someone replying and naming me by name in a negative comment. Thanks :)

message 16: by Mechelle (new)

Mechelle my comment isn't negative. i'm sorry i named you but you were, in my opinion, stepping almost into bashing territory and that is a pet peave a lot have. and i'm sure that Richelle Mead love the comments that she gets everything, but somepeolpe so want to see a new release movie end up not watching just because the trailer was less then prefect.

message 17: by Xyra (new)

Xyra @Mechelle: As I recall, Rose is "pure" when she has her encounter with Dimitri and I don't remember her doing anything with Adrian (though he really wants too). So she is far from being a slut. However, I would bet that the writers at USA Today have not read the books and are keying on that one scene in the trailer. And since she is a tough girl in "guy's" line of work...it just seems to follow they'd call her such. :-(

message 18: by Mechelle (new)

Mechelle i not say is a slut, i'm just say the USA Today is calling her that on some level. but i agree the writers may have not read the books.

Xyra Mechelle wrote: "i not say is a slut, i'm just say the USA Today is calling her that on some level. but i agree the writers may have not read the books."

Yes, we agree. Rose's love for Dimitri is paramount. Just wish the newspaper people could see it that way. :)

I dont mean to be a downer but maybe you should re-read my comments because i have not once complained about any of the casting choices. I think the movie is going to be amazing no matter who is in it.

message 21: by Mechelle (new)

Mechelle Okay Jana i re-read your comment and i unstand now that weren't complaining I'm sorry. i was rage today a school, sorry.

Some schools are already in session...my friend who lives in Illinois, her kids went back last week. Another friend in Illinois started this week. And many colleges/universities are heading back. All depends on location. Some areas in the US have year round school and other countries space their holidays differently too.

We're all in agreement that we are thrilled with the books and looking forward to the movie. :)

message 24: by M.... (new)

M.... Okay. Sorry if it sounded like I was complaining, the thing was I really liked the cast when they were announced but when I saw the trailer I was shocked when I saw the trailer.

message 25: by Rache (new)

message 27: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Krumme I have imdb.com on my favorites. Great place to find info on movies, actors, and trailers. You can put VA on a watch list to help keep track.

message 28: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn It looks like it could be a little disappointed. Still excited but I don't think it'll live up to the books. Being directed by Mark Waters who doesn't have a whole lot of great movies. Still slightly excited though.

message 29: by Khione (new)

Khione Whoo! The trailer was awesome! I can't wait to watch it! Me and my best friend are going to watch it on the premier date! Happy Valetine to VA! I'll make sure to bring chocolate and tissues, in case I drool over DIMITRI! Whoo hoo!

Defintely agree about that, he's going to add some drama in it! Also in the trailer, did you notice the blood writing on the wall, that didn't happen in the first book?

Kaitlyn -A wrote: "Kaci wrote: "It looks like it could be a little disappointed. Still excited but I don't think it'll live up to the books. Being directed by Mark Waters who doesn't have a whole lot of great movies...."

Yes. I'm not sure what to think.

message 32: by Khione (new)

Khione Yeah, maybe he's trying to add something in it that's not apart of the book.

message 33: by Gabby (new)

Gabby I'm going to hold my judgement on the trailer until I see the movie for this...

message 34: by Xyra (new)

Xyra Gabby wrote: "I'm going to hold my judgement on the trailer until I see the movie for this..."

That is a smart move. I remember seeing so many trailers for a favorite movie before it released that I thought I had seen the entire movie. But when I did see it there was sooooo much more going on and inferences I had made about plot changes were negated.

message 35: by Khione (new)

Khione Gabby wrote: "I'm going to hold my judgement on the trailer until I see the movie for this..."

Agreed!

message 36: by Maria (new)

Maria Goula The Trailer is pretty good! Can't wait for the movie. I was expecting Dimitri to be different, like more "huge" I don't know how to express it the right way, but when I was reading the books he seemed to me like the type who does a lot of exercise and therefor he should be more muscular...

message 37: by Nabilah (new)

Nabilah Tasneem The trailer was..... well lets just say i liked the music in the end.
Nah just kidding its great to know that something you've been hoping to come true is actually amazing !!!!
cant wait for the the movie.

message 38: by Krystle (new)

Krystle I will watch it because I am a die hard fan of VA Series, but I have to say that the characters are not at all what I expected. I am hoping it grows on me like twilight did because I love the VA series far more than I ever loved Twilight. I thinkk because of how much I love the book I am being more critical than I ought to be.
