Sequel to Leap Of Faith?

The question I've been asked the most since Sept. 3 when Leap Of Faith was released is, "Will there be a sequel?"

The answer is usually a variation of:

There isn't one planned right now.

or

I have a few ideas, but nothing plotted or developed enough to write yet.

or

Leap Of Faith did originally have a wrapped up ending, but through working with my editor during the publication process, it was determined the ending would be stronger as it is now.

So, what does this mean?

Well, I'm not sure yet. :) I have tried writing a sequel, but not too far into it (like the first chapter) I decided it wasn't quite right. Maybe it will take more time to brew in my mind before it comes out on the page with the right voice and plot...or maybe it won't and Faith, Chris and Addy's story is as complete as it will ever be.

Honestly, I'm not sure. Only time will tell.

I know... WHO was at the door?

Well, I think we all know who it was, but what happens then? I really don't know to be 100% honest. I thought I knew when I first wrote it in 2009, but in 2014 I'm not sure. What do you think happens?

Currently, I'm working on a story about Blythe Pippenger and Jonas Applegrove who grew up together and are now sophomores and transitioning from friends to more...but...(there's always a but, isn't there?) something happens at football camp that changes Jonas. Blythe hears rumors, but Jonas denies them. She learns the truth from the most unlikely person and it's more awful than she could have ever guessed.

I'm very excited about this novel and hopefully it will be picked up and published. No guarantees - cross your fingers!

Happy 2014!

Jane Doe I absolutely loved reading your book Leap of Faith until it ended. I felt like you ripped the story away. Complete waste of time if there is no sequel.

Vanessa Montalvo Just finished reading the book like 5 minutes ago, I really enjoyed reading it, I can't believe there isn't gonna be a sequel!!! I'm very disappointed that this is it!!! There has to be more!!!

Vanessa I totally agree. The story has everything to be a great story and coming from someone who have read around 500 books within one year I can tell you that it takes a lot for me to be really caught by a book. The problem is that with all stories, we want closure and this book had none. It is ok if the end is realistic and she actually have to place the baby to adoption or not go back to her boyfriend. It would suck and we would feel sad? yeah we would, but sometimes reality is what it is. The problem there is that she not only did not lose the baby but she did not kept it either and also she did not kept or lost the guy so it really made no sense. I felt almost like the end of RAW when the dude didnt die but says one day i will come back for them.

Aleha Cushman This is my all time favorite book i have ever read. And i have read a lot. i just wish that there will be a sequel i would really like to know if Faith, Chris and Addy will become a family. Ahhh I have so many question!! I hope that you do decide to write a sequel. I think a sequel would be necessary.

Hannah This book was great until it ended. The whole reason I read this book was because I wanted to find out what happened to Addy. When I did not find out what happened I was upset. Jamie, I know you ended it this way so it would be "Stronger" but If you don't write a sequel the whole point would be lost. Having a strong ending is great if you want readers to buy another book, but if there is not another book, you just have readers who think you ran out of ideas and just ended it. I am not saying the book was terrible, I loved it, but the way you ended it was kinda cruel.

Actually, the editor thought it would be stronger this way. I had written the book with a solid ending... :( I know... Sometimes authors don't get their way...

Hannah Jamie I applaud you for being able to sacrifice the solid ending you created for the sake of making it stronger. I will openly admit that it is, in fact, a strong ending. You created a cliff hanger that made me yearn for more. This ending you created actually kept me awake at night wandering what would happen to the characters I came to love. When I found out there may or may not be a sequel I was disappointed. However, my questions can not stop me from enjoying the book as it is.

Well there a reason one person is the writer and the other person "edits" it. I want my HAPPILY EVER AFTER ending :( :( The only reason for that ending would be to bring back readers for a second book, since that's not the reason the editor wanted the book to end. Then I wish the editor would explain what they were thinking?

Carma I need a sequel to this book. I've never been so in love with these characters, it kills me not knowing whether or not they do live a happily ever after. It's absolutely heart breaking. Please, give us the answers!

message 10: by Maria (new)

Maria Can you at least post the alternate ending that you originally planned, like on HIMYM? That'd leave me more satisfied than nothing.

Emily Rooney Jamie Blair is a talented writer and I hope their is a sequel to Leap of Faith, I really look forward to the next book. Love your work Jamie Blair!! :)

Sunagsta I just want to know HOW he knew where to find them and all the tiny details of how he felt and how he dealt with it. Amazing book.

Sydnie This book was so amazing to read and so very emotional! Especially when I was going through some scary stuff at the time I was reading this! I loved all the characters and how it was written and just wish the ending was more conclusive, if you're writing a sequel I will definitely read it! And I will look into your other books as well! I think a cool way to wrap it all up would be to write a book in Chris's perspective of the situation and start with the day he meets faith and addy and go until he ends up at her motel door and explain how he felt and everything!

message 14: by Breannah (new)

Breannah Cave I just want to say that I'm in the 8th grade and I hate reading books but my teacher told me that I needed to read more so when I read this book it actually made me like books other then comics like this was the greatest book I ever read

message 15: by Alexa (new)

Alexa Rachel I just finished this book and I'm sobbing. I really desperately need a sequal or some sort of closure. I've read a lot of books but I don't think I've ever cried this much. I really hope you do make a sequal because I know I would buy that. Thanks for all the joy and tears this book caused. I know I'm going to make my friends read this for sure.

message 16: by Doreen (new)
