Summoned Held me Captive
Y’all know i love to read. So I’m trying to make sure I post my reviews here to pay it back, and make sure i’m getting enough reading time in. This book was recommend by a friend, and let me tell you it blew the hinges off my mind.
Summoned made my jaw drop in the first chapter, and kept me in a state of awe the entire way through. This wicked, witty, dark, and unique tale is a must read. Ms. Kaye takes a modern day legend, digs, deep, and comes up with something chilling, and fascinating as she explores what it could mean to be owned by a master you cannot refuse.
Dimitri is a genie trapped in a life he has no control over. Born with the genie bond, he and his family before him have been owned by the same family of psychos whose wishes made my blood run cold. We’re talking mafia style. Who needs to hire a hit man when you have your own personal genie? Yes, now you’re getting the picture. Told from Dimitri , ‘Dim’s’, point of view we get a glimpse of what a person would do to stay alive, and how love can be both a blessing and a curse when he meets Syd.
Syd is anything, but your average heroine. Brash, in your face, and aggressive, she’s introduced as a one night stand that never quit leaves. I loved her humor, and her depth. She’s misunderstood. When you finally peel back the fishnets and flawless make-up, there’s a whole other world going on.
The passion between them burned the pages, but it was the connection formed that tore my heart from my chest. Fast paced, smart, and full of plot bombs that explode all over the place, this was a read I’ll be thinking about for a long time. If you’ve never read Ms. Kaye before this is the one to start with.
