More details about "An Unyielding Desire"

Now that "An Unyielding Desire" is about to be ready for purchase, I wanted to talk a little bit more about it. I have no idea where this idea came from. I woke up one morning, and most of the plot was already there. I knew who the characters were and what they were going to do. It was strange to have a book set 13 months after The End, when the first in the series was a century later, but it suited the plot. I wasn't going to argue with inspiration when it so neatly presented me a fully formed idea. All I had to do was write it down.

That's when the trouble began. The first 80 pages or so just about wrote themselves according to plan. And then the characters stopped doing what I had expected and started revealing new depths and behaving in ways I hadn't expected. I don't want to give away anything, but let's just say that the book ended up surprising me too.

This is one of the darkest things I've ever written, along with being emotionally complex (I hope). AUD very much took on a life of its own and decided its own fate. It's a strange experience, as an author, when the story takes over. I hope you, as a reader, will enjoy where it takes you.
