I was on Bainbridge Island last week to do a signing and reading and I keep thinking about something a librarian told me after I signed her books.
She said that years ago she read Because of Winn-Dixie aloud to a group of kids; and when she got to the end of the book, there was a long silence.
And then, a boy raised his hand and said, ���Can I hug that book?���
She handed him Because of Winn-Dixie and he hugged it.
And then he passed the book to the next kid, who hugged it, too.
