My my… It has been such a long time since I have sequestered myself into a small room to think about updating people on the happenings in my small, pitiful book world. As I have heard people say though, anything is better than nothing at all. I guess that can apply to the infrequency of my blogging.

When I started this blog over 2 years ago, I had every good intention of trying to maintain some sort of regular schedule to chat about things going on in the world of authoring, upcoming releases, and just plain things that I either find funny, or interesting that I would like to share. I didn’t count on life moving right along around me, much like everyone else (who has a life) and probably not enough time to even read these blogs. I don’t really have the time to write as much as I would like, and what little time that I do, I am trying to tie up the remaining portions of book 3 in the Joshua Chronicles. More on that bit in a moment.

For the faithful who check in on me every once in a while (www.stevenneilmoore.com), I haven’t been as regular in updating that either. However, I have put my uselessness around my blog-updating and website up-keeping, to a more productive use on furthering my authoring.

I’ve got 2 more books planned for the calendar year of 2015.

First, let’s chat about Plan: Chaos Rising. I have surpassed my original goal of 45,677 words for this book. For those of you that speak pages rather than words, that’s about 183 pages give or take. This was originally supposed to be a volume within a larger “omnibus” addition called Chaos Rising. There are 4 volumes that are supposedly going to be inside of this omnibus. My plan is to still stick to the 4 volumes; the first 2 of which are Theft, and Plan. I’ll give you the names of the remaining 2 later down the line in other blogs. We don’t want to let too much out at one time now do we?

But there comes a time in people’s lives, when best laid plans don’t always work out.

I’m still adding to the storyline of Plan. Sometimes things like this will happen due to an inspiration for a section or a chapter that grabs hold and won’t let go. I equate moments like that, to that song that gets stuck in your head that you can’t seem to shake. I know that happens to pretty much everyone, so you know that it’s difficult to ignore unless you can replace it with something else to obsess about. Songs, writing… Not much difference in this respect.

My intent was to wrap this book up with two more chapters which would lead into the next volume, “Execution: Chaos Rising” book 4. (Oops! First time I’ve told anyone the title of the next book in the series). Well… I know not that many people read my stuff, so I’m pretty sure the secret is still safe.

Where was I? Oh yeah… My intent was to wrap this book up with two more chapters, but as the storyline continued to unfold, some of the more leading threads began to make sense in this volume. I was going to push some of the stuff off into book 4 of the series, but the ideas seem to fit better in book 3. I’m still hopeful that I can get this book completed fairly quickly, but as any author who cares about their readers know, the obsession around the quality of the storyline needs to be crafted well, especially where a series is concerned, and that it continues on correctly without compromising the overall tale; in my case, Joshua and his continuing battle.

As always, my promise to the readers continues, and that this will be an epic journey with many twists and turns in every chapter.

Now… I said I had two books planned for 2015. Although the material does exist for Execution, that book will not be completed until sometime (hopefully, I state with fingers crossed), in early 2016. If anybody has read my previous blogs (you know who you are wink, wink), I mentioned that I was dabbling in the field of romance. Echoes of Ella is the next book on deck for completion around Christmas 2015. The focus group reports of the first four chapters came back pretty positive. I originally wanted to gauge the interest of some avid readers of the female species to see if I had what it took to complete something along the lines of a decent romance novel. Nobody came back and told me that they vomited at my poor attempt, so I took that as a pretty good sign. The romance genre seems to be a massively huge and popular field among the lovely ladies of planet Earth. I wanted to see what I could do outside of my comfort zone. Looks like were going to find out.

Although that particular market is saturated with a ton of really quality romantic stuff, I would have to do something unique that would make my first romantic attempt stand out. Most romance novels are written in the first person, and from a female perspective. I decided to take a whole different approach. I almost always write in the third person. I figure this approach allows me more flexibility to put a few spins around the dialogue with some witty narrative to either make you hate the character, laugh about something stupid they said, or cry at the sensitivity of the character’s situation. I also write this from the male lead’s perspective. I haven’t seen very many romance novels, that show the vulnerability of what it’s like to be a man trying to fall in love. This book is about a man trying to win the heart of a woman who can’t stand him. He really sucks at relationships; and doesn’t know how to relate to women other than on a physical level. To complicate things further, she is in a coma and it is his fault.

Pretty good stuff, huh? Who really knows… That will be up to the readers to decide. So far, the ladies who have read this, are not puking. Or they were just being nice when they gave me their reviews.
