The River Passion
In the realm of Life there flows a river called Passion. This river is the source of every thing that grows and lives there. Many have traveled far and wide to come to this river to find their meaning and to refresh their souls. The River carried many men and women to their destinations and desires of life.
A man was traveling to the river one day, and he came across the path of another man.
"To where do your feet take you boy?" Said the man from under his cloak.
"I am in search of the river Passion," was his reply, "I have many a goals in life, and I hear the river can take me to them well."
"You have heard rightly. First you must take this stick." The man handed the other a small twig. "You will come to a point in the river before you are able to sail it, at this point toss in the twig and it will meet you there at the boat."
"If it does not?"
"If the twig does not find your hand again, you have not found the correct river and you must travel on to the next. Beware of the liars along the way. They are there to mislead you, the stick is the only way to truth."
"Thank you sir." He bowed and took the twig from the man's hand.
As he walked along the man came to a point in the river which was small enough to leap over. He said to himself, "This must be the place the man was speaking about." He dropped in the twig and watched it float away.
He moved along and after a long day came to the dock on the river. He met a man there and said, "Have I come to the River Passion?"
"You have my boy, come and move on to Success!"
"Have you seen a stick float by?"
"A stick? Why should a stick be in the River Passion? It flows unencumbered by twig or branch. Who would block this mighty river?"
He looked out to the river to search for his stick, he found no disturbance on the glassy, flowing water. "Sir, you have a good day. I must move on to the river."
He walked on never to be seen of again.
Over the course of many years, the man in the cloak gave out stick after stick to many travelers. They each tossed in a stick looking for the River Passion. None found it.
Another man was sent from Success, the Great City to which the River Passion leads. he had dawned his cloak, but his bright hands and feet stuck out, he wore a metal mask to hide his brilliant face. He came to the dock, where men would learn of the Great City, and follow the River Passion to it. He found a place of death, a dry river bed, the fantastic boat sat on the dirt below. The men who ran the dock were also found dead on the river bed. A shining tear fell from his hidden eye.
He walked along the path which headed into the town from which all the people came. As he walked, he came upon the same man who was giving the twigs to passersby.
The man in the mask called out to the one behind the cloak, "Who are you to hand out these twigs?"
"I am but a man who wishes to help people find their way."
"You have helped none. I believe your goal is to be nothing but a Liar!"
At that word, the 'man's' cloak burst open revealing just that, an ugly beast. His body was torn from the darkest regions of the depths, and placed here to cast lies into the river.
The man from the Great City Success stood his ground in the presence of his adversary. The beast drew a terrible dagger and lunged at the man. In an easy motion, the man removed his mask and the Liar was defeated by the face of Truth.
The man then walked to the dock again and then found his way onto the dry river bed. Walking for hours he finally found a dam of the twigs tossed in by the other men and women on their journey to success. But the River Passion had been blocked by all of the twigs from the Liar.
He once again removed his mask, and the twigs were removed from blocking the river. He chose not to move from the wall of the river's water rushing towards him. It overtook him and killed him, but at his sacrifice Truth mingled with Passion and was never again able to be dammed by Lies.
