A Dog always Breaks your Heart, at least once

I’m sitting in the sunshine on our patio listening to our water garden sing down the stones, with our pug, Sasquatch in my lap. He’s been my office dog since he was twelve weeks old. He’s fourteen years old now, and will be fifteen this summer. He’s the oldest dog I’ve ever owned from puppy to now. We had a rescue, Jimmy, that we got at age ten, and he made it seven more years, but we never saw him when his paws were soft, and he was all uncertain of the world. Jimmy was decidedly himself whe...

Susan What a beautiful tribute to your little Sasquatch! I have had my share of "last days" with my pets, but I still insist on including them in my life. There is nothing that equals the love and trust of the dog and/or cat that you have made a part of your family. Know that you have given your little pug a fitting send-off!

Crystal Caldwell We lost our 13 year old rescue dog a week ago. We got him when he was 8, so for 5 years he was a huge part of our family. My other dog is 13 as well, and I've had her since she was a puppy. As much as it hurt and left me numb and empty loosing Tini last week, It'll be worse when Isabelle's day comes, just like you described with Jimmy and Sas. I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. Our house will always miss the presence of our sweet lovable bichon. This is a truly beautiful dedication, and one I know every pet lover can identify with.

Jennifer There is nothing like the love of a pet. I know I'm going to have to say goodbye all too soon to my rescues (12 & 13) as well since time marches ever forwards, but I would not trade those moments with them for anything. I cried during your tribute, which just shows how much love you poured in to those words for your beloved pet. I hope your family (both furry & human) comes through this loss with the ability to smile at the happy memories of him, on the other side of this grief you're facing right now.

Sara I just can't read anymore of this, but I too have been there, and it's obvious you love your fur babies.
