C. I saw your comment on YouTube! I know some authors love writing fanfic to get their creative brain "primed." I think I stuck with it through the end of Monsters. I probably will write more here and there, but trying to write long stories in fanfic is hard--it feels like putting on a pair of shoes that are to tight.
