An adaptation is an interesting concept, Ruth. I could see taking the bones of the story and putting it in a different time and setting, like the adaptations of so many of Shakespeare's work (esp. Romeo and Juliet) or the post apocalyptic Nibelungenlied productions. GWTW is certainly a pre and post-apocalyptic story.
