The fact that you have topics for future stories make me very excited for your books after Every Note Played. I read all your books within a year, and I'm so excited for March 20!!
I have loved every book of yours that I have read, Lisa, with Left Neglected being my favourite. I feel like you really understand the issues that you explore in your books, and pass this understanding on to me as a reader. I can't wait for your next book about bipolar disorder as my sister was diagnosed with the condition 14 years ago. Good luck! Xx
Thank you so much. Yes, I do my homework and research these diseases and conditions as thoroughly as possible--I have a responsibility to portray these experiences with truth and dignity. My best to you and your sister. Xx
I look forward to your next book on as my son suffers from bipolar disorder. It is more prevalent than people realize and we need to stop the stigma and bring mental illness out into the light.
FYI, Schizophrenia is not used now to describe that form of mental illness, so some research, I know because when I retired I did volunteer work with extremely mentally ill. It is now called schizoaffective disorder. PC creeping into all areas science. I will look forward to reading about the Bipolar disorder told from her perspectives. One person I helped who died had a 140 IQ and was consider schizoaffective and NIH tracked him and asked me to donate his brain to NIH which I did do. He had an M.A in Economics. The human brain is amazing.
Schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder are actually 2 different diagnoses. If you have schizophrenia, you may hear voices that aren't real and see things that don't exist. Schizoaffective disorder is a condition that can make you feel detached from reality and can affect your mood.
These two disorders have some things in common. But there are important differences that affect your everyday life and the treatment you get.
