Wouldn't that mean that there are female Carpathians that are not lifemates and so could turn vampire? Or did all those females get killed in the genocide of Carpathians?

I am so happy to hear this confirmed by the author herself. Female Carpathians and lifemates are born with their souls intact and could not choose to turn vampire.
