I wrote both of those series. They're not different because different authors wrote them. They're different because they're completely different worlds and genres. If you read my adult books you'll see that they're different as well. Experienced authors know how to alter their voice to fit the book/world.

Thank you that explains the difference between the Tales of a New World and House of Night series. It just read differently to me and not in a bad way. I guess you can say it just had a different personality to it. I haven't read The Dysasters yet but I'm looking forward to it!
