[close] Welcome to UPA's Local Literature Club ᕱᕱ ྀི!! we're soo excited to start UPA's first official book club on goodreads and to have you club members on board ! yayy! UPA Local Literature Officers ᥫ᭡. · · ─ ·ʚɞ· ─ · · What Our Club is About ૮ ․ ․ ྀིა: We have combined The Local Book Lovers Club + The Literature Club to make The Local Literature Club ! We have decided to have one week for each “side” of the club so that you can choose between going to Local Book Lovers for longer books and join that meeting OR go next week to attend Literature Lovers meeting to read shorter stories/novels. To go more in depth: LOCAL BOOK LOVERS focuses on reading longer novels, watch movie adaptions after reading the books, and discuss and share our opinions on the books we read. For example, we might read is “Twilight” by Stephenie Meyer or “Caraval” by Stephanie Garber. LITERATURE LOVERS focuses on reading short stories + poems, making book themed crafts, and participating in creative writing activities such as making your own short stories. An example of books we might read is those that are popular like ”Twilight” by Stephenie Meyer, horror like “The Final Girl Support Group” by Grady Hendrix, or ones that carry a message like “Speak” by Laurie Halse Anderson However, there will be times when both “sides” will have a meeting together to do fun activities such as we plan on doing a meeting for writing workshops!

[close] Our title is a playful nod to C.S. Lewis’s 1944 lecture, "The Inner Ring." In it, Lewis warns against the subtle temptation to chase ever‑smaller, more exclusive circles — the “in crowd” — at the cost of integrity and joy. The “Outer Ring” flips that idea on its head: we welcome the mix of familiar and unfamiliar voices, valuing curiosity, honesty, and genuine connection over status or secrecy. Here, the only ring worth joining is the one that stays open.
