I didnt think he was a creep because he was damaged how he was treated as a kid. Sure he did somethings wrong but i didnt think he deserved that horrible way to go in the end.

I did think about the story that it was prolly like PKD non-genre novels too. Those kind of books can be about mundane things like characters usually.

I never struggled with this book because the characters was not his best but they were so interesting,so flawed,so human. I felt for them all specially Hoppy, his fears, his goals.

I didnt like the story too much though its like he forgot to tell a story and let just the characters randomly do their thing.

Its far from my least fav PKD, thats why i rate it 4 stars. It has a great take on post apocalypse, interest themes like deformaties.
Its much much better than my least fav PKD so far that is The Maze of Death.

1210 What did other PKD fans think of this book ?
Jun 10, 2010 12:46AM

1210 Yeah that is more reliable than other GR fans when its about PKD.

1210 Hehe no help then ;)

Its just many books that are called Dickian just because they try to be rambling, different.

1210 It look too over the top with the trailers. I wouldnt mind if it was half as good as Memento though.

What makes Jeff Noon's Vurt Dickian ? Themes or writing ability and themes. ?
1210 I just dont care about how it will turn out, i dont have any interest in another hollywood film that only use PKD idea in a typical story of theirs.

Paycheck and co are proof.

If it was in the quality of Minority Report then i would find it interesting.
1210 Looks more like Bourne Identity than the PKD story. Him and his girl being chased....

If they had cut out the love story it would have been interesting.

Now i will forget it even exist despite Matt Damon is one of my fav actors.

1210 The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch is the creepiest so far to me. By the end i didnt know what was going on. A feeling being lost.

One of few books i have read i thought and thought over again what happened in some parts of the book, specially regarding that "being".

1210 James Cameron was at his best with Terminator,Terminator 2,Aliens thats for sure. Those are among my fav movies of alltime.

Still someone should have said where they took the ideas from. Not Cameron but the guys behind the story, script.

Yeah i was almost shocked that PKD didnt get a credit for Terminator. But thats hollywood they can steal stories and act like they created them as film....
1210 Have you guys seen the info about upcoming Matt Damon PKD film in IMDB? They turned a interesting PKD short story into a romantic drama with a slight sf element....

1210 There is a sense of horror in the bleak, people controlled by the powers worlds of his. Like in Flow my Tears, the policeman said.

The horror sf stories of his that are more regular scary are very good too. Second Variety is a chilling story i loved reading. Cant help thinking the idea of Terminator films must be connected to that story.

1210 Yeah i never understood the big fuss over genre, i mean non-genre writers writing similar stories look like their own genre too....

I like to think story type when i think of stories. Do i want science story or a mundane contemporary setting, a scary story. Not i want SF or non-genre or horror.

Yeah it answers my question. Personal horror is very good way to describe what he writes.

I dont even think about genre when i read. I think i feel for a Dick story or a for Jack London book and so on.

My fav writers happen to write in some genres.
Mar 25, 2010 05:19PM

1210 319 now ;)

Thats must be a record for a SF writer or an older writer.

Personal horror ? How do you mean ?

I think PKD could write about anything and makes it interesting. He could make a human story of out anything. Thats why i dont even doubt that i will read his non-genre books eventually.

1210 What i always like about PKD is the way he writes stories around human relationships, dramas. His reflection on what is reality and what is human is very compelling.

The fact he writes same themes, certain characters over and over suggests something about the man behind the writer. Specially about the women he writes about. They feel more real, less dated than other older SF. Having read introductions about his real relationships with women you see why.
1210 Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said was a great book and have potential to become his best film yet.
