Shinjini’s comments from the Read Runners group.

I finished this! This book was so good I finished it in about 2 days even with exams etc. I really liked it and it was a really sweet experience for me.

A friend told me that A Walk to Remember is much like Love Story by Eric Segal and yes, I found some similarities in the two books, but both have many things unique to them as well. My faith in Nicholas Sparks is renewed after the debacle that was The Notebook. I have to ask, (view spoiler)[ do you think Jamie survived?

I personally doubt that but what did the miracle mentioned at the end of the story mean, then? Did Landon mean that Jamie was the miracle in HIS life? I'm veering towards that one because Jamie truly changed Landon's life manifold. (hide spoiler)]

What did you think about Jamie and Landon?

Levana, (view spoiler)[ I did sympathise for her a bit but that ending and her overall cruelty towards Evret, the man she "loved" is despicable! I hate Levana but I have to say, Meyer wrote her really well. What a strong character towards the end! I was simply blown away by that unexpected ending and now I'm really waiting for Winter! Other character references, (view spoiler)[ Woah! I loved the brief references to the other character. Selene (Cinder), Dr. Erland (!), Cress, little Jacin Clay! I really enjoyed this book thanks to those references. I didn't read the teaser for Winter though as I really don't want to read a chapter and have to wait for x number of months to read the rest. But there is no doubt that I'll be reading Winter when I can get my hands on a copy because Marissa Meyer just keeps getting better! (hide spoiler)]

Overall view of book, (view spoiler)[ I veered between being really interested and then a little bored, from pitying Levana to hating her with all my heart. I don't understand how Channary and Levana are such damaged people. Channary actually set her sister on fire! I mean, who does that?! And Levana got her own husband killed! These two are horrible people but the characters are so strong even then. They weren't wimpy and thought for themselves, even if their thoughts and actions weren't always right. One has got to appreciate that. (hide spoiler)]

The ending, (view spoiler)[ Absolutely unexpected and I did not see it coming until it was mentioned that Levana was expecting someone in the chambers. Still the way she roped in Haddon and even after the deed of killing Evret was done, got rid of him, was something I did not expect. But Queen Levana always seems to do the unexpected. I finished Fairest and OH MY GOD! That ending is absolutely amazing!!!
