Okay, I have never, nor will I ever, know all the grammar rules of the English language. And I'm an English Education major. Gasp, point, and stare all you want, but here is my defense: Each and every rule of the English language is allowed to be broken "if you have a specific purpose for doing so." Those were the words of my horribly strict Grammar Professor in college. That was the day I stopped caring about proper grammar.
That being said, I'm not about to use txt msg spelling in my books, LOL and OMG, but I'm okay with a few reviewers being upset over my "improper" use when the majority of my readers don't even notice.
When I was teaching, I was just happy if a student actually spelled out "he laughed" in a story instead of "he lol'd." Times are a-changing. We can fight it all we want to and just because it's changing it doesn't make it right, but it's not our decision to make. It's every younger generation's decision to make.
So I say TO EACH HIS OWN!! :)

My struggle is that yes, I've created a magical land, but finding a picture to appropriately convey that is proving difficult, and I'm no artist. Keita is not a pretty princess, so all models that I've looked at this far just won't work. I don't want that typical "brunette beauty" on the cover because I'm trying to get away from that with my writing -- avoiding society's definition of beauty.
I have started perusing Dollar Stock Photo for cover images. But haven't found anything that has really stood out to me yet. Going to be difficult :) I'll post or message ideas as I have them :) If anyone has an 'AHA' moment they'd like to share, let me know :)

So here's my question Harald, as someone who's about to redo her cover for a fantasy book (link to my current: http://www.amazon.com/Two-Lands-Ann-L...) what is the #1 rule you would give for designing a book cover? I realize that there are probably a whole slew of levels that need to be considered, but what's your starting bit of advice?

I really liked Season 1 but never moved on as they switched actors due to the initial guy's illness.

We are Swamp People fans as well!! Hoping I get to watch the past two weeks' episodes tonight!

I love Unsealed: Conspiracy Files!!!!!!!

But I've grown attached to the name. And it does give some freedom in what you write and how you present yourself -- if that makes sense.
