Sometimes I think "said" is all a scene needs, whereas sometimes you need to give your readers a clue as to what's going on in your character's mind as they're speaking. Overusing one or the other can be a distraction to your readers.

Now, I hate the word "Swag." I've never seen it used in a serious book, but I have to resist the urge to smack teenagers who use it seriously :)

Thanks!

Please also note that this is a support group. We're just here to give people a place to meet fellow authors, vent frustrations, and ask for help when they need it.
While many authors want to become successful authors, others are doing this just for fun and telling them that their covers "don't work" doesn't really mean anything to them. They've followed their vision and that's great.
As Christina said, we are working on setting up new folders and getting better organized. But the general rules of the group will not be changing. Constructive criticism only to those who have asked. I am one of those people who does not like to step on toes. Not for fear of not pleasing people, but because everyone has a unique vision for their work.
This is all a long winded reply simply to say that: We are a support group, which is what Christina is trying to convey (I believe). There are plenty of criticism groups out there (we've all seen the websites). As our group grows (and it is rather quickly) we're going to get a wider and wider variety of writers, readers, artists, etc. It's not just a matter of supporting each other and building each other up, but really, the core root of this group is that it's tough to be indie. And we all need somewhere to go where we feel safe and secure. That is what this group is meant to be. That safe and secure place where you can ask for help and not be thrown under the bus -- so to speak. If that makes sense.
