35559 So we are squared away on the first set of task and group 2. Very nice!

35559 To be honest, I'm never in a challenge early enough to conspire before hand. I'm always behind. This time to plan thing is awesome :)

35559 That's a good one. X's can be difficult. Is there a way to make this thread private? I don't know if it's necessary but I have looked in on what other groups are doing a bit.
I feel like we have done a decent amount of work finding books. I hate the thought of someone reading the thread and getting that info.
I don't really care in the long run. Just my competitive side rearing it's ugly head :)

35559 Good for me also. Do we know what words we want to go after in stage 3?
Jul 26, 2019 10:56PM

35559 @Nicole Looks good! Glad to see someone else found a book for Group 2 Task 3. I have a book but its large. It would definitely slow me down a bit.

35559 And I found The Orchard Keeper by Cormac McCarthy over 50% red and has hot in the authors name :)

35559 Found this book for Group 2 task 1 The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton Red writing and LAVA in the title

Group 2 task 3 King of Ashes (The Firemane Saga #1) by Raymond E. Feist flames on the cover and the word Lava on page 264

I'm looking for the other two still

35559 ok here is what I am reading for 1, 2, 5

5 that was first published in the 1950s Night (The Night Trilogy, #1) by Elie Wiesel published 1958

2 that has two authors (as credited on Goodreads) The Killer Across the Table Unlocking the Secrets of Serial Killers and Predators with the FBI's Original Mindhunter by John Edward Douglas John Douglas & Mark Olshaker

1 which is the author's debut novel To Kill a Mockingbird (To Kill a Mockingbird, #1) by Harper Lee

If anything seems hinky with these, let me know. I have them all saved so good to go

35559 Sounds like a plan.
Jul 26, 2019 08:18AM

35559 I suppose if in one or two days a couple of us could knock out stage 1 as the other people could start reading for 2 seeing as how we can start them at the same time.
I guess we might run into too many books again at that point.
Jul 26, 2019 07:54AM

35559 So for 3, do you think we need to read all 4 but it can't be one person reading all 4. At least two of us need to finish a book?

Sorry. I feel dense right now
Jul 26, 2019 07:39AM

35559 I think it is that you need to complete however many tasks are for your level. I think for Stage 1 that is 2 out of 4 spelling out LAVA
and this is 30 points per book
Stage 2 - we need 2 of us to read a book in one of the 4 categories. But this round is worth 50 points so if possible, we may want to do all 4.
At least I think that is how it reads. basically we can't read one book for stage one and get points. Has to be two books as specified for Crater Level.
Does that sound right? I've read the rules like 20 times and I'm still not sure!
Nicole - that list for stage 3 is awesome, thank you! And I agree about skipping stage 1 if we can use the books in stage 3 for more points.

35559 1, 2, and 5 work great for me. I know I have a book already saved on Scribd for #2. I know I have books for 1 and 5, but not sure if I have them saved. I will look tomorrow.
Jul 25, 2019 08:55PM

35559 Okay, Assuming I understand Stage 1 correctly we need to spell out LAVA from book that were BOM or read by another team during this challenge. I just went to the BOM list and found several books. I think we only need 2 letters but here is just the 4 I picked. If they don't work or aren't needed that is fine but I have saved them on Scribd. So if we want to use them, I have access.
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart (Author Last Name L - BOM 09.14)
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman (Title A - BOM 08.17)
Vicious (Villains, #1) by V.E. Schwab (Title V - BOM 07.14)
The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel (Author A - BOM 09.17)

35559 Hey Nicole! If you want to pick I'll take what's left. No hurry though.
I will also look at the other stages and see what I can line up for those.
Jul 25, 2019 12:47PM

35559 I can read for any of the task. If you all want to pick to start, I’ll bat clean up!
Jul 23, 2019 07:16PM

35559 Handsome fireman - definitely HOT!

Sorry to hear about your son. Well wishes sent his way.

Contagion by L.I. Albemont The book name is
Contagion
A novel of the Living Dead.
I think it works for task 1 in group 2. But I guess I would like agreement that the "A Novel of the Living Dead" is part of the title.

35559 I have the 4 narrators covered and I love audio books. Keeps the mind busy while running or doing house work.

35559 Nicole what a great holiday. Sounds wonderful!

Sophie - thanks for the "working" spreadsheet. I'm normally pretty good with that stuff but you just never know.

I get sticking to 40 books. In past challenges I have been able to start a book during one week and finish and use in the next week/segment of the challenge. Can I assume it works the same for this challenge? So if we get our 40 we can get a jump on the next set as long as we don't finish them until then.

I also have one book that works for Group 2 task 1. If I am reading it correctly. That is as far as I have gone.
