Have also decided to do what I rarely ever, ever, ever do and stopped reading two that are taking eons to get through as just too slow going. Shelving til I feel more in tune with them. Life's too short for books that don't grab you and keep calling you back.
WIN a copy of To The Sea by Christine Dibley, entries close midnight Thursday 12 January 2017

Yellow

3/5
I tried to do the cross out thing guys but it ended up crossing out all of the text below, that so maybe that only works for names not front covers. LoL. Will persevere and try it again when not so late.

Done:) Except left off the text hyperlinks. Will add back when add next lot of bookcovers. Nearly finished yellow... and began another not on list but colours don't quite fit in so going to try and be creative and see if it is purple enough shortly.

Progress 1/5.
Coverhunt: Transport: Old Scores David Whish-Wilson I heard him speak at the Fremantle high tea a few weekends back. Can't find a link - must be too new. (Didn't get to this so will read next month.)
Different genre: Pelican Point 2 Iron Butterflies: Graeme Bond
A gift from an aunt about Freo: can't find the link sorry.
* I won't be looking for the first in this series. Ok it is a small publisher but typos annoy me. I was looking forward to an interesting read into life in WA referring to places I have visited or would like to but the back and forth time frames and mix of Australian and European scenes were truly different in appeal. The Oz scenes were well written and the local dialect well placed. The overseas scenes were hard to follow and down right annoying. Theme not my type of book either, so I discovered. If not for the fact the book was a present and I was reading it for a challenge I'd have given up on it and put aside. Re-gifted this author signed copy to a family member for Christmas in the hope they like it a bit better!
Title: From Phnom Penh to Paradise: Escape from Cambodia Var Hong Ashe
A hang over from my days working with World Vision and meeting people in Da Nang. This is the one I am starting with.
*** See review on my list of books read. Well worth the read.
Different geographical setting: Now I See the Moon: A Mother, a Son, and the Miracle of Autism Elaine Hall This also fills need to read autobiogs and learn about other disabilities.
**** 4/5. See review against the link.
My choice: Australian: The People Smuggler: The True Story Of Ali Al Jenabi, The 'Oskar Schindler Of Asia' Robin De Crespigny
another rights based text.
Began it today and already half way though. Such a relief to get to a sensible book - one you can imagine the characters and place, time and not have to keep on guessing who is who and where they fit in. It is giving me a crash lesson in Sudam Hussein's regime and the affect it had on local people.
See review linked to book on my page: *****
Happy reading everyone.
