The Virtual Gunshot
In the year 2032 a virtual reality head set was created. When worn and turned on, the user's body was in a trance like state, and could not be operated by them at all. All attempts to move the body resulted in their virtual character's body moving.
Not long afterwards, a game was created to go with the head set. The game was called Shooter's Paradise. It was an FPS with as many as 500 different weapons. Avatars were fully customize-able, and guns could be colored any way the player wished.
