This book was Cinderella meets the Bachelor but with Fae and the protagonist was a thief. We have the perfect love triangle. Bash is the Fae prince of the Seelie court. He’s blonde, is Brie’s best friend, and has been in love with her for years. Finn is the dark haired Shadow Daddy prince from the Unseelie court whose motives are suspect and is Brie’s enemy. This book was difficult to finish. I almost shelved it so many times but I pushed through. The first chapter was good before it turn into a season of ‘The Bachelor - Fae Edition’ 😂 There are definitely A LOT of similarities with the ACOTAR series. The idea of the story would be entertaining but the writing falls flat. The main characters weren’t developed enough which made it difficult to feel any chemistry between them. I’d give it more of a 3.5 stars. First half was a 3, and second half was a 3.9 based on the entertainment factor.
It felt a little like reading a story on 4x speed. It would have been better with more detail, it almost felt like the cliffs notes version for a while because it was going so fast. A lot of it was predictable, but there was also a lot that wasn’t predictable too which balanced out the obvious stuff for me.
