This book is a complete and total work of complete and utter perfection. BY THE ANGEL I WANT TO MARRY JACE! This story takes you on a ride truly. Okay so I totally love this book and if you chose to read on this will have major spoilers, I had to say that one more time.
Characters-
Clarissa Fray Was she a typical heroine? In some ways yes. Like all heroines in a young adult book she got annoying at times. I also felt as if I could have learned more if I wasn't stuck in her point of view the whole time. Anyway... You have to give her some slack. Okay so I totally love this book and if you chose to read on this will have major spoilers, I had to say that one more time.
Characters-
Clarissa Fray Was she a typical heroine? In some ways yes. Like all heroines in a young adult book she got annoying at times. I also felt as if I could have learned more if I wasn't stuck in her point of view the whole time. Anyway... You have to give her some slack. She basically found out her whole life was a lie in the time period of a week. The person she fell in love with is her brother, and she didn't even know she had a brother. Her dad who she thought had died before she was born is a psychopath murderer who is still alive. Her mom belonged to this evil circle, and blocked out all of her memories of her daughter's past. Yeah, that's a lot to deal with.
Jace Wayland I totally fell in love with his character, who also went through a lot. His whole life is a lie too. His father who died wasn't really his father and his real father is a psychopath killer also. Poor Jace( I'm saying that without sarcasm). I really wish that I would have had a couple of chapters from his point of view. I mean really, he had like a paragraph! Moving on now since this could turn into a rant.
Simon(did they ever say his last name?) and Alec Lightwood.
So you may be wondering why they're in the same section. It's because I had a hard time distinguishing their characters until chapters sixteen and seventeen. I actually got them mixed up in a couple of chapters. In chapter sixteen you learn how strong Alec's feelings for Jace really are. In chapter seventeen you learn about Simon's feelings for Clary. I could finally distinguish them after that.
Isabelle Lightwood I don't know, I never really liked her or disliked her. Maybe if I had learned more about her?
Plot Okay moving on to the plot. One of the reasons my actual rating is 4.75 is because I saw two of the major plot twists coming. That Simon loved Clary, I guess this isn't a major plot twist but still pretty big. The other one is that Valentine is Clary's father. Was the author trying to hint this? because it was pretty obvious. Overall though, the plot was action packed and filled with enough plot twists to keep you on your seat. I can't believe that Jace and Clary are siblings! I refuse to believe it!
The writing style So usually I don't include this in my review, but I felt a special need to include it this time. So you know when you read "The decent into hell is easy" and "Turn left! Left! I said to take Broadway, you brain dead moron!" the author has some writing skills. The author has average writing skills(though better than I could ever do).

I read all of the book and can't wait for the last one. I don't know how it happened but I'm addict et to the story. The relationships are hard to stand and you got really fast into this fandom. I can proudly say that I'm a clace and malec shipper who can not wait for the last book. ...more
