I don't know if this was the best book I read this year, but it was certainly the most fun!
The Walker children's father writes from overseas, giving his four older children permission to take their sailboat The Swallow & camp on an island the children have christened Wildcat Island. Had not read this when younger so was pleased to see it as a read for one of the groups I frequent.
Quite an adventure for the four Walker children even for the one with the unfortunate name. Thoughts of child abuse kept flashing as they were allowed to sail to a near by island and camp for days.......all without the benefit of a phone!!.

This is the book my brother had; it was read so many times by all of us, my mum eventually put it in a plastic bag with a ziplock thingy at the top.
