What can I say about Jake Wethers than is he's a certifiable ROCK GOD (next to Kellan Kyle, of course.) Anyway, this was a reread for me. I enjoyed every minute of it. If you loved Thoughtless series from S. C. Stephens you will enjoy this one as well. You won't be disappointed. Just wished is was dual POV then my rating would have change from 4.5 to 5 rocking stars. I'm ready to dive into book 2. ...more

The story opens with 26 year old Trudy, a music journalist working for Etiquette magazine (a fashion magazine in London). What was supposed to be a filler job after university became six years later. We quickly find out that her boss Vicky wants her to interview Jake Wethers, singer of The Mighty Storm AND most importantly her best friend 12 years ago. Only her friend Simone (and Vicky because of a drunken mishap) knows that Tru grew up with Jake. Now after 12 years, Tru will interview Jake her old best friend and one time love of her life.

Instant recognition. Not sure why Tru thought he wouldn't.. Jake seems to be in shock not really believing "his Tru" is standing in front of him. She is just a bundle of nerves and agrees to go out with him for dinner after the interview is over. Her boyfriend of two years is not thrilled about this. Jake picks her up in a freaking DBS and takes her to Pizza Hut like they used to on her birthday. The very next morning Vicky lets Tru know that Jake is doing a bio and he wants her to be the writer.. Oh yes. Tru and Jake on your together. She talks in this Spanish accent (he mother is Puerto Rican) and it kills Jake. They flirt like crazy already!

Tru just met up with Jake for the tour. They both brought their friendship bracelets Tru made them 16 years ago. Now they are swearing each other's. Serious Tru, you think Jake warning Tom off you means he view you as his sister, no freaking way. Oh Tru.. Jake is made at you for teaching Stuart Spanish because he wants that to himself. Wow, so we all knew it was a matter of time when Tru and Jake gave into their feelings and she is now cheating on Will and Jake is none too pleased he is the other guy. What a fucking mess.

Holy fucking shit Will just showed up with Simone to surprise Tru. Jake is livid. He just sang Mr. Brightside at the concert.. Jake has this slutty redhead hanging off him at the after party. Tru is jealous and really has no right since Will is there. They fuck in the bathroom and he tells her that he just wants her but she hesitates and he goes back to the hotel with the redhead and Tru gets drunk. Thank fuck Jake didn't sleep with her and Tru finally tells Will what's been going on behind his back.

Finally Tru is Jake's. They stay in Paris for a few extra days. Jake asks Tru to move to LA with him.. She says she will think about it. I'm nervous. Jake does not seem to take rejection well. Jake's father dies and what happened to young Jake and his mother comes out of course. He turns back to drugs and it's devastating. Tru and him get into an enormous fight. He breaks her phone and accuses her of cheating on him with Will. She leaves, comes back in the morning and finds him in bed with a naked 20 something. Now I'm fucking devastated and she's off in Manchester crushed and won't listen to Jake (or anyone that he did not cheat).

A week later and Tru is back in NY for the last show. She was summoned or the book is a no go. Jake brings her a phone and he new ringtone is a freaking personalized version of Adele. She is just being tortured.. Jake fucking plays the Trent Reznor version of Hurt and that means he's in his dark place. I am literally shouting at him through my kindle.

"He's my storm to calm. And I'm going to spend the rest of my life doing just that."
