What Members Thought

Read for the first time. I am pretty sure I had never read it but probably saw various movies that were based on the book. The story of 4 men, three musketeers and a young man, d'Artagran who is an intern. The setting is France during the 1600s. The novel, while an adventure and romance, has a political setting. I'm trying to put together a coherent review.
First of all, the thing that struck me the most reading this book is how wildly different it was than my preconceived notions about it. I guess through primarily pop culture references, I viewed this book as a harmless heroic action story. It is definitely more than that, and NOT that.

A fun read that had more cynicism and less swashbuckling than I anticipated. The Musketeers (there are actually four of them) are not quite the noble warriors I expected. In fact, they're more endearingly rogue than noble.
