What Members Thought

This 3 star may get dropped to 2. Actual rating is somewhere in the middle.
The pov and storyline that I actually cared about was basically non-existent.
I may come back at a later point and write a proper review.
Will I read book 2? I own it so yes, will it be as soon as I originally planed. Nooooo

What a great start to the series! I loved everything about this book - the detailed world-building, the fleshed our characters, the beautiful writing, the female representation, the action scenes, the political intrigue and so much more. I had to force myself to put this book down instead of reading it all in one sitting!

Have you ever read a book that has lots of flaws but you still want to read its sequel? Well, this is one for me.
The writing is good. I like the world building, with all their gods and religious orders and especially the badass gender-blind aerial special ops called the Kettral. Kinda reminds me of Naomi Novik's Temeraire series except that here they used giant birds.

I dived in to this without having read the blurb (I have a bad habit of that) and had a lot of fun going blind into the information spilled in those paragraphs. Probably too late to recommend it to anyone who might read this review, but well. I enjoyed discovering the identity of the siblings, and running into the events that shake up their lives. I also enjoy a good training sequence, and we get two--one for each brother--along with the bigger mystery of what the heck is up with that prologue?

Great!
This was really good. Tight storyline, optimal pacing, great build up and interesting characters. The magic is a little bit out there. It seems like, it's meant to be mysterious, so I will give it a pass. All three siblings are good characters and I cared about all their attachments. On to the next one. ...more
