This was pretty great! (thanks Alisha for the recommendation) There's plenty of intrigue around this "orphanage" and the caretaker. The short synopsis is 3 of the oldest kids in the house discover things aren't at all what they appear to be and decide to hatch a plan. Too vague, too bad! This one is crazy easy to spoil, so you'll just have to trust me that it's worth checking out.

Wow, this book...wow.

World: The art is beautiful and detailed, normally when you read manga there are some great characters art and then fairly basic backgrounds until the splash pages, not the case here, reminds me of comic books and that’s awesome. Kids at an orphanage are nice and happy... until they learn the orphanage is not as it seems! Yeah that's pretty predictable but it's still interesting. Everything is happening piece by piece every chapter but because they're so young, and we know so little about what is happening, it doesn't feel like it's building to anything. I want to know more about this world and what sort of story this is going to be bu ...more

I like the general conceit of the story. However, I found two of the three main characters pretty predictable and the battle of wits ultimately uninteresting. I like manga and smart protagonists and science fiction and light horror, but this story was both a lot and not enough for me. I'm interested in the world building of this story, but it feels like the next few volumes might be more of what I didn't like in this. ...more
