What Members Thought

I hardly know what to say about this one. I haven't read too many historicals in the past year, but boy oh boy, maybe I should start! This book had me totally riveted! The story, the witty dialogue, the oh-so-complicated hero, the take-no-guff heroine, the whole love/hate thing between the H/h--it was at times funny, sad, frustrating, but there was never a dull moment. At times I felt sooo sorry for Dain, who grew up unwanted and unloved, but other times I wanted to slap him upside the head and

The third book in the Scoundrels series by Loretta Chase. Just reread this one. When I read it the first time I liked it but didn't get all the hype about it. When I started reading it the second time, it was like reading it for the first time. I didn't remember anything about it. I read it more slowly this time and I could see more clearly how people could fall for Sebastian and Jessica. Sebastian was a product of his upbringing. If one could call it an upbringing. It touched me deeply to think

Alright! I loved it. Everyone said I would and I did. I loved Dain the tortured hero! I laughed out loud several times and even shed a tear a couple of times. I couldn't put it down all day (good thing my boss wasn't around) It had all the great aspects a romance novel should have. I have learned my lesson. Now I just feel foolish that it took me so long to read it. Stupid book cover prejudice. Seriously, someone should talk to Ms. Chase's publishers about a new cover reissue.

WOW! This has to be one of the best books I have ever read- romance or not! It is so beautifully written! I am now afraid to read anything else by Loretta Chase in fear that it will not measure up to this wonderful book.
Sebastian Ballister, Marquess of Dain, is a beast. But, as well all know, especially in “Beauty and the Beast” type romances that not everything is what it seems. Dain has a very good reason to act the way he does, and you find out early on in the Prologue that his nastiness and ...more

Once I picked up this book I couldn't put it down, finishing it in a day. I enjoyed the dynamic between the main characters, Jessica and Dain. The author created a intelligent heroine with backbone without making her mean. The hero is brash and crude, a complete idiot at times, and you'll fall for him still. Quite a few parts of the book had me laughing. A truely entertaining romance novel, you won't regret reading it.

I recently went back to see what my thoughts on this romance were and I was surprised to see I had only given it 4 stars and it was not on my favorites list.
I have reread this one many times and find myself going in for a reread like a person seeking comfort food.
This may be one of my all time favorite HR. I can see why it remains on the top list of many favorite HR reading lists.

Just terrific. A slow progression to love; a really jerktastic yet 100% redeemable hero, and a super smart and brave and ALSO jerktastic-at-times heroine.
This is the first Regency in ages that I really was reluctant to put down and eager to come back to. I've enjoyed plenty of them, and yet they've been missing for me that element of addictiveness.
This one has it. And 99c? Good grief. Gimme the rest of the backlist! ...more
