This was not the book I thought it was going to be. Following all the hype, reviews, film versions etc that I've seen and ehard I was expecting Heathcliff to be some brooding romantic who life dumped on but instead he came across as an egotistical bully who caused most of the problems in the book and got everything he deserved. Cathy comes across spoilt and conceited while Linton is manipulative and gernerally very annoying and is obviously the weird guy you vaguely remember from school. The onl ...more

Shelves: historical-fiction

I think I wanted to read it having thoughts that it was this major love story. But it is defineetly not that, at all. It was intriguing but I just cant get myself to like it. It was very confusing to follow with everyone having the same names and the author rarely clarifying who is speaking. I might try to give it another chance, but ultimetely i hated the characters and too much revenge and sadness for me.

I am rereading this book with my daughter. I havent read it in years but she has to read it for a book club at school, so I am reading it with her.

Not a book for an eleven year old because there is a lot she didnt understand.
