So after having this book on my TBR shelf for such a long time, I finally decided it was time to see what all the excitement was about. I was slightly disappointed as I thought for sure it was goign to be a five star read... but I will tell you why in my eyes it only deserved four.

UPDATE: When I first read this book, I loved it and I hated it. I loved it because of the characters, the story, and the world! I hated it because (view spoiler) . When I read that, I was heartbroken. So heartbroken, that I just abandoned the series and rated the book three stars with a short explanation as to why (original "review" below). But a friend of mine, read the whole series and informed me that what I read a

Life takes a turn for the unexpected when Clary Fray happens to witness a murder at the Pandemonium Club in New York. Things become more bizarre when she realizes that she alone can see the teenagers who are committing said murder. They haven't been witnessed by mundanes before, so they are very curious as to why Clary can see them. Things continue to spiral out of her control when her mother disappears, and Clary is attacked by something not of this world. Certainly someone will be able to figu

This book had a lot of mixed reviews, and that is why I didn't end up reading it until now. I know I'm a little late to reading this book, but I was busy. Anyways I really liked this book. It is one of those books where you either love it or you hate it. The plot wasn't that original, but the world was. The characters were good, and the way the author depicted the world was great! Clary really brings the reader into the story. She is sweet and kinda naive. All she wants to do is find her mother.

I just reread this in perfect time for the movie and I couldn't be happier. What astounded me while reading this was the amount of planning that went into it. As I was reading, I realized how perfectly the other books meshed in with this one, and even the prequel Infernal Devices fits into the world just perfectly. That must have taken a lot of careful planning and forethought.

What a heap of garbage. I managed the first chapter, gave up, read the plot summary on Wikipedia, and found out I was right about just about everything that happens (apart from the whole incest thing, but whatever). This is the most cliched nonsense I've read for a long, long time, and that's saying something. The writing was laughable. And the rip-offs are utterly obvious - the whole opening scene reads very similar to many scenes from Buffy. Reading the plot summary, this sounds entirely devoi

So far I like this. I started backwards, with the Clockwork Angel, and maybe because the protagonists are older in that one, this one felt a little childish in moments. And, ahem, I really dislike women protagonists who slap the men in stories. I mean, really! But otherwise, nice so far...
