What Members Thought

I loved nearly every single minute of this book. I ate it up like warm chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven. I had some issues with the ending as I did not see the purpose of it and it seemed quite abrupt but my pure joy at the remainder of the book has shined through and will not let those negative thoughts cloud my overall rating. Ryan Dean is such a great character. I will miss him and was glad to hear he will be back in a sequel *squee*. Mr. Smith created a realistic world with great t

It has been a while since I have been active on Goodreads and I went to one of my groups to see what this month's book was for a recommendation. I wasn't an Andrew Smith fan prior to reading but will definitly be looking up some of his other stuff. I can't say that I LOVED this book but mostly because it really did read like what I would imagine a 14 year old boys mind is like and hello chaos! Ryan Dean West had me laughing so hard at times I had to stop reading because I couldn't breathe. I seriously have sore ab muscles. There is a plot twist I saw coming, but I was still pretty torn up about it in spite of this. Thanks for making me cry, Andrew. I kinda hate you right now. But this book, I love it.

Maybe I am just too old, but with the "F" word twice on the first page, I put it back on the shelf. There are too many good books out there and just not enough time for me to wade through that kind of language. For those of you who loved the book, I am glad. I wish I could read the book and enjoy the story without the language.. I am concerned that many of the books with high ratings have that language in them. I know the kids use the language, but I don't feel we need to imply endorsement of it

OMG OMG OMG...I thought this was going to be a feel good everything turns out good in the end book about a boy who skipped a few grades and has a wide mix of friends. NOT!!! I am heart broken, I didn't see that coming at all and had to reread and than cry forever. Well played Andrew Scott I will read almost anything you write after that.
