The premise of 172 Hours on the Moon is that, in the near future, NASA decides to send three teenagers to the moon. Why? For publicity and funding, they say. (Huh, okay.) But as this creepy story progresses, conspiracies are uncovered and strange things begin to happen––and the three teens chosen for the journey, along with the rest of the crew at their space station, find out they may not make it back to Earth alive.

Wasn't too sure what to expect when I picked this up, a YA scifi novel. I'm so glad I did. The tension and creepiness crafted into this book is worthy of a 'Grown up' scifi novel. 3 kids win a once in a lifetime chance to go to the moon on the anniversary of the moon landings . Only things don't go to plan. The eeriness in the dark chapters created visions of the horror of Alien, Event Horizon etc. cannot recommend this book enough. ...more

3.5 stars

During the first half of this book I was ready to give it 3 stars, but the second half really surprised me. Some moments were pretty creepy, which I enjoyed.
I feel like some parts, though weren't necessarily rushed, seemed like they happened too quickly. It definitely could have been padded out more by at least another 50 pages. But this did give the book quite a fast pace and nothing dragged on for too long.

Ummmm....I like the other bookcover better than the one shown above. This played so well as a horror movie in my head! Really enjoyed the whole science fiction/horror blend!

First half of book book was really good. The author did a great job of building up the story and the characters. Second half felt very rushed with months of the story being left out.
