There are few things I find sillier than books that haphazardly mix popular romance tropes. The thought process goes something like this: “if readers like heroes that are shifters, Navy SEALs, have psychic powers, belong to a brotherhood of men fighting evil and have fated mates, wouldn’t they love a hero who is/has ALL of the above?” **eye roll** I know it’s fantasy but to take a story seriously, I need to see some internal logic.

This was a great start to what looks to be a fantastic new shifter series! Alpha pack is a government special ops team full of shifters with some extra talents. This story was based on Jaxon who is a wolf shifter with a talent for time bending! He rescues Kira after she steals things from her employers who she is convinced are up to no good and she is sucked into the Alpha packs world.

This book was difficult for me to get into. The storyline picked up but I was listening to it on audio and there were so many sex scenes. Long sex scenes, like "my entire commute" long. I may pick up the next in the series but not on audio. It's too difficult to skip portions when I'm more interested in the story.

I'm not a prude but I don't need all the details, especially when the characters get together a half dozen times in 323 pages. ...more

It's taken me several tries to get through this book. This series has a lot of potential but it didn't get close. A lot of times the first book in the series is blah- the world building takes a while and then it takes some to get to like the charactiers... I did like Jaxson and Kira and the other members of the team as they were introduced- I'm going to try the second book but I'm not sure what's missing- I just wasn't feeling it with this series.. ...more
