(4.5 Stars Really)

The extremely bold beginning of this installment alone was enough to make it the best entry of the series for me. I was stunned (in a very good way) at the audacity of character and storyline shakeup and excited about how it would play out for the remainder of the read. The great follow-through from the opening events made this an emotional read, that capitalized on both the events and the consequences as Leah came into her power and played such a pivotal role.

Adam being a fish (4.5 Stars Really)

I was stunned (in a very good way) at the audacity of character and storyline shakeup and excited about how it would play out for the remainder of the read. The great follow-through from the opening events made this an emotional read, that capitalized on both the events and the consequences as Leah came into her power and played such a pivotal role.

Adam being a fish out of water was a good way of revisiting the couples from the series and matching him with Jasmine was not a surprise for this reader. In Damien, there was the cryptic message about her mate and Adam's appearance made him the most likely candidate, especially after a glimpse at Jasmine's memories. Adam's confusion over his displacement and his desire for Jasmine helped to both "humanize" him and made him more attractive. This was also a good star turn for Jasmine since she was able to leave the dour naysayer behind and not be obsessed with Damien. The alternate reality was another winner for me, I liked that the devolving of the Nightwalker societies came not from an expected place but more from a less obvious concentric circle of an event. However that alternative view didn't show Kane or Corrine in a very good light and highlighted gaps in what was thought to be a solid foundation and they didn't get back on the plus side for me.

Overall, although Nightwalkers never became the series I wanted and needed it to be, the promise from the first installment paid off here. (IMO) Ruth had become much too powerful a villain for the series and the constant battles with her too predictable and sapped my enjoyment. I was exhausted with all the near misses and no one being smart enough to realize what would take to stop Ruth. The variety of sups was great and I liked the mix of demons, vampires, etc. Re-iterating the links between the various Nightwalker races and the tenuous peace they exist under was an excellent way to wrap the series. While I have the spin-off series for this I am not sure I'll ever read it since I wasn't a fan of the writing style.

An exciting story that finally puts Demon Ruth where she belongs. What a God awful evil bitch! At one point or another, everyone was involved in this story which was nice since it's been three years since the previous installment...Noah. Jacob and Isabella, Noah and Kestra, Elijah and Siena, Damien and Syreena, Ruth and Nicodemus, Kane and Corrine, as well as a Shadowdweller named Windsong and a mysterious female from the future.

3.75 stars. It's been 3 years since I read the other books, so I couldn't remember all the characters and their powers. I was so distraught and annoyed after the first 5 pages, that I put the book down for 2 weeks, but I should've just kept reading.

I really enjoyed this one. It was almost like a blast from the past kind of book. It started off really traumatic for me, but the author quickly set the stage for the comeback and executed.

The only real issue that I had was that the entire supporting cast built in the prior 5 books all but disappeared. Adam and Jasmine just took about 85% of the story. I thought that was a little much. I really hope she goes and adds another book and lets me know about Gideon's son. There was definitely a story ...more

What a tear jerker, and right off the bat to boot.
This one is about Adam & Jasmine, but also about the battle with Ruth. Good twists, and gauntlet of emotions that it ran you through. Jasmine has been prominent in many of the books, showing up and helping or driving someone crazy. It is time to move onto a new enemy.

I really like these characters, and the story, but the choppiness & abrupt endings are driving me nuts.
