I read this last summer. I really enjoyed it and sympathized greatly with the struggles the characters went through. The book raised tons of ethical questions. Even though the book had me wonder about what is right and wrong, I still came to the conclusion that suicide is not the answer no matter how crappy your life is. I'm a stickler for "endure to the end."

Time has not made me kindly disposed to this book, and I was wondering why I didn't have any desire to see the film. After reading this blog, now I know why the book bothered me: http://claimingcrip.blogspot.com/2016...

Startling book about the life of a quadriplegic and a quirky girl that is hired to keep him company. Louisa "Lou" Clark isn't skilled in anything but making tea and when her boss closes the tea shop, she is unemployed. Instead of stripping, she applies for a caregiver/companion position for Will Traynor, a bitter quadriplegic.

I really loved this book. It was such a good, thought provoking, realistic story about two people who have nothing in common, but who ultimately change each others lives. I loved how the characters were challenged in every way possible, and how they had to overcome so much to try to be happy. I was emotionally connected to this story for many reasons, and although I don't know what I'd do if I were in similar circumstances, I think the author did an amazing job with such a sensitive real life si
