Frankly, I've always thought that this critique was way too whimsical. All it did is invited contrarian criticism, instead of making sense.

Comrade Napoleon, seriously? I'm sure the original Napoleon would've had kittens (or maybe even dragons) after reading this stuff. Anyway, Napoleon and comrade and totalitarianism? Someone skipped a lot of history lessons (or/and had horrible textbooks, maybe?).

This is a really interesting and clever little Novel, I dont know what planet I was on that I am only reading this Novel now, however I am glad that I did as really enjoyed the the whole cleverness of this story. Initially the book was intended as a fairytale with hidden conections to Russian History and Stalin, The story is about animals and is set on a farm, and the animals decide to stage a rebellion and overthrow the Farm Owner and take on the running of the farm themselves. Great book. I find it difficult to express what I think of this book, mostly because I want to rant which would spoil the story. I can say it surprised, angered, confused and saddened me. It was written by Orwell to caution readers about communism, but it goes beyond that. It applies to any place with a leader. (view spoiler) ...more

I’ve been postponing this book for a long, long time mainly because of the political context that it’s famous for. Finally, I decided to read it, and I dare say I enjoyed it a lot. It’s a simple story full of irony, symbolism and satire, indicating Orwell’s disapproval of the communist system. Real masterpiece! The allegory makes it a multi-layer novel, suitable for both children and adults.
