"The Last Wish" is a collection of stories about Geralt Rivia, the Witcher, whose occupation is to deal with monsters. This is a frame story in which other stories are the memories that the protagonist recalls as he recovers from a nearly fatal wound.

A good read. It inspired a computer game(some will be impressed one way and some another by that...and others will say "so what". Probably the best reaction i suppose). I found the book enjoyable with a couple of weaknesses. This is a good idea, I think (and this is only my opinion) it could have been handled better. 2.5 stars. The first book in the Witcher series. I really enjoyed the premise and the I think the potential is there for some excellent stories. Unfortunately, I wasn't overly impressed with these tales. Decent, but not great.

Excellent, no let down from Sword of Destiny. Last Wish drew more from Grimm Fairy Tales as some of Geralt's flashbacks were interesting variations with surprising twists. I really enjoyed the stories with Geralt and his friend, the troubadour Dandilion. They're a funny pair with their sharp contrast in personalities and their relationship is one of the most consistently entertaining aspects of the stories so far. I wonder how it will figure in to Blood of Elves which is a long form novel where
