A novel that I had really been looking forward to, but it turned out to be a dud. Despite being set in one of the best documented periods of Egyptian history, this clunker was littered with plenty of bad research, cutesy nicknames, stupid tropes about Egypt, and is more about squabbling sisters than anything else. Power, politics, art and destruction. I always enjoy historical fiction and this one based in Egypt was a good read too

I have been on a bit of a historical fiction hiatus — i can't stomach more WWII and so much of everything right now relates back to WWII — and this was such an enjoyable way to ease back in.

Beyond her name and bust, I knew next to nothing about Nefertiti. Now, I do — and what a life and reign she had.
