I don't usually read contemporary YA, because I'm a middle aged mom and YA is not always where it's at for me. This book is a must read for everyone. It is well-written and the message and storyline is extremely important as well as relevant to today's time. There needs to be an open and honest discussion on police brutality and the treatment of black people, persons of color, and the poor and the overall frustrations of everyone involved. I don't think any review I can write can do this book justice. I can only say you should definitely pick up this book.
