I have mixed feelings about this series, because I love a great many things about it and yet at times I feel that reading it is something of a guilty pleasure. There are passages of prose that are so incredibly beautiful, so expertly crafted and rich with details. But because every male character in this book has the same beautiful muscular body, except some are tan and some are not tan, I find it hard to differentiate between them. Sarah J. Maas writes the perfect "new adult" fantasy novel in my opinion. Her books are fast moving, her characters are engaging, and ger storylines draw you in and won't let you go until the last page. A Court of Thorns and Roses is my favorite series she writes. Her books will always be an immediate read for me no questions asked. ...more
