This book was so adorable. Yadriel is a trans brujo and determined to prove himself to his family. Julian is the ghost he accidently summons when trying to solve the mystery of his cousin's death. Deeply steeped in Latinx culture, this book does an excellent job of world-building and creating a cultural atmosphere for a modern ghost story surrounding Dia de los Muertos.

And also, the main characters are super cute.

Logan
Slooooooow pace. Characters get introduced and discussed who have no impact on the story. The central mystery is not even fully defined until the last quarter of the book and then with hardly any effort is revealed and tied up without any real emotional investment. The characters were lovely but so underdeveloped by wasting pages on actions that accomplished nothing.
