What Members Thought

This book is unique, compelling, strange, and As safe as life itself and it's definitely deserving of the hype.
I know I'm late to the party (and quite happy about it because I don't have to wait **does a little dance** for the other books to come out) but I will ramble a little bit.
I have to say that I felt quite in sync with the boys, all of them. The way Gansey felt about his quest, his yearnings, his education and the loyalty he shows I think made him my favorite character so far, I just ...more

“She wasn't interested in telling other people's futures. She was interested in going out and finding her own.”
“Fate,” Blue replied, glowering at her mother, “is a very weighty word to throw around before breakfast.”
I have been putting this series off for a while. But I am so happy to have finally started it because honestly it is all kinds of addicting.

It's a brilliant read. I did not expect this! AT ALL! Now I understand what the whole hype was about!
It's a brilliant take on fantasy with the right amount of mystery and historical legends and magic. The story made you feel strange and spooked and warm and as if magic was tangible.
The most attractive thing about the book were (a no brainer) the Raven Boys.

What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the inside of Maggie Stiefvater's brain. Who takes a tiny little Welsh legend and turns it into this wonderfully wild story about four private school boys and one failed psychic hunting for a long dead Welsh King, who when woken, can grant a wish like a genie?
What??? If it sounds incredibly amazing, that's because it is.

I WANT to love Maggie Stiefvater like everyone else does, but I always feel like I'm missing something! I'd probably really just give this book a 3.5, but I bumped it up because the characters are great and because I'm always hooked by stories featuring psychics.
